What Makes A Good Pick Up Line?

If you've been dating for any length of time, you have probably seen the sheer amount of books, audios, classroom consultations, audios and movies dedicated to helping the single person get that first date when out at the bar or club. But the problem with all this information is that it can be overwhelming. There are literally hundreds of ways you can go about getting a date at the club, but one is so simple and so overlooked, you might not have though of it and that is a good pick up line.

Again, however there is widely varying opinion as to what constitutes a good pick up line. For instance, some believe that you need to be racy or dirty for any pick up line to be effective. Others think that the best way to use a pick up line is to be a little bit crazy and unexpected. Still others believe that teh most effective use of a good pick up line is to be cheesy. Finally, others think that a good pick up line is one that doesn't sound like a pick up line at all.

So, what is the answer?

A good pick up line can be all of the above but it can also be none of the above as well. In order to be successful with any of the above, you need to have a certain level of confidence to be able to use them effectively. In order to get this confidence, it pays, especially if you're going to a new bar or club that you've not been in, is to just watch and observe. See how people interact. See how the bartender runs the bar. Are people having a good time? Is the atmosphere energetic?

Once you've seen that, take a look at the type of people the frequent the establishment. If this is starting to sound like the beginning of a strategy, that's because it is! You need to have some form of strategy, you need to be comfortable in your surroundings before you can get and use a good pick up line successfully. If most of the people there are having a good time and the atmosphere is relaxed, then using your lines should lead to success.

At the beginning of this article, the question was posed: what makes a good pick up line? The answer is that it doesn't matter where you get your line or what it is. It is not the line that makes you successful, it is YOU. You can have the funniest pick up line in the world but if you don't know how to use it properly or aren't confident it will fail. You make the line work or not and get that guy or girl you're interested in talking with you.

Ultimately, a good pick up line is only as good as the person using it. The line is not what does it. It is confidence, being relaxed, knowing your surroundings and a bit of "playing it by ear."
